The Authority of the Federal University of Lafia has said that the institution is set to commission President Muhammadu Buhari Institute of Research which is aimed at conducting sophisticated research that would compete favourably with its contemporaries all over the globe.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammad Sanusi Liman who stated this during a press conference in the institution’s Senate Chamber yesterday preparatory to the university’s 2, 3, 4 and 5th combined convocation scheduled for Saturday this week.
According to him, “The university has approved the commencement of engineering and environmental sciences. Contract have been awarded for the construction of all these faculties. We have all the facilities for research. We have a Director in place to run the progromme. We will carry out sophisticated Research here. We can compete with our contemporaries.”
Prof. Liman added that the convocation ceremony would also witness the commissioning of faculties of Arts, Science and medicine as well as 2.5 kilometre Duo Access Road.
His words, “All these achievements were recorded in 4 years my administration. We were able to established a post graduate programme. We also installed power system in the institution. All these projects were done through the Internally Generated Revenue IGR. We have applied Prudent management of IGR as well as the Judicious use of TETFUND made available for the institution”.
The VC who maintained that the Research faculty would proffer solutions to the people of Nasarawa State especially in the areas of Geology and Agriculture as according to him “We have competent hands to run the Research Institute.
“Federal University of Lafia was established alongside with other Federal Universities in 2011 but has recorded at remendous achievements due to the team work of the University Senate committee. The university administration has an open door policy as well as collaborated with all the management team. We work together for the grow and progress of the University,” Prof. Liman added.
