FG, Abdullah Mahmood Foundation, Jigawa Govt form partnership to feed vulnerable children

In a concerted effort to encourage vulnerable children to go to school, the Federal Government, through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, has facilitated a landmark partnership between the Abdullah Mahmood Foundation (AMF) and the Jigawa state government under the Partner Implementation Initiative (PII).

To this effect, the Abdullah Mahmood Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jigawa State to provide daily nutritious meals to 30% of the vulnerable children in the state.

Speaking on the development, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding Program, Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, stressed that under administration of President Bola Tinubu, government is creating an enabling environment for meaningful collaborations between public and private actors.

Dr. Yetunde described the initiative as a new dawn where partnerships will fuel progress and every Nigerian child is given the opportunity to learn, thrive, and succeed.

Under the arrangement, the beneficiaries include those in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, pupils in Almajiri schools, and children from the poorest communities not currently captured in the existing school feeding programmes.

“The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive development, human capital growth, and sustainable partnerships. Beyond tackling malnutrition and promoting school enrollment and retention, the programme also empowers women and local farmers by integrating them into the supply chain.

“With this move, Jigawa joins progressive states such as Zamfara, Plateau, and Ogun—while Anambra is expected to come on board soon in advancing school feeding efforts”, Dr. Yetunde added.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has commended Jigawa state government for its decisive action and urged other states to follow suit, by ensuring that no child is left behind in the journey toward national growth and prosperity.

“This programme stands as a testament to how partnerships between government and private institutions can drive real impact under the Renewed Hope Agenda, restoring dignity and building a brighter future for Nigerian children”, the statement concluded.
