The Federal Government has prohibited recipients of honorary doctorate degrees from using the title “Dr” in their names, stressing the need to preserve the integrity and credibility of academic qualifications in the country.
The directive, announced on Wednesday, clarifies that only individuals who have earned academic doctoral degrees through approved institutions are entitled to use the “Dr” title.
