Federal Government yesterday identified lack of accurate data as well as lukewarm attitude of critical stake holders in housing sector as major factors militating against available and affordable mass housing in the country.
The Minister of State11 for Power,Works and Housing, Suleiman Hassan who made the observation during the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria(REDAN)s 2018 Building Expo held in Abuja, noted with regret how lack of accurate data might affect government policies adversely..
According to the minister, the present government has put adequate machinery in place adding that the recently launched National Housing Scheme was one of the deliberate attempt to provide Nigerians with affordable, available mass housing.
Earlier, Hassan had advised different key stake holders to clearly define their roles aimed at providing mass houses in order to avoid duplication of functions.
In his welcome address, the President of REDAN, Ugochukwu Chime explained that the theme of the Workshop:” Enhancing Real Estate Development Through Collaborative Effort” was carefully chosen to provide an opportunity for major stake holders in build industry such as policy makers, legislators, developers, building materials producers, financiers among other professionals to brainstorm on how to move the sector forward.
According to REDAN boss, the two days workshop could help each stake holder present to discourse passionately and to redefine individuals and collective roles for the benefit of all and the country in general.
