The Minister of Works, David Umahi has denied claim that the Kano -Abuja road has been awarded to Infoquest Nigeria Limited.
Umahi said the publication in a national daily about the the contract is false and misleading.
The Minister made this known yesterday during a press conference yesterday in Abuja, while refuting the media reports published 21/1/2025 said they were falsely represented.
“The Federal Ministry of Works as having awarded a section of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road dualization to Infoquest Nigeria Ltd.
“ That is purely falsehood and attempts by some contractors handling federal road projects to demarket both me and the Ministry of Works”.
He said “infoquest Nigeria Ltd secured a “No objection” of N252.89 billion from the Bureau of Public Procurement ( BPP) for the rehabilitation of a section Abuja- Kaduna- Zaria-Kano road and where they described the Ministry as having awarded the contract to an unknown company.
The minister clarified that the ministry had awarded the contract to Infiouest International Limited and not Infoquest, as reported.
The Minister alleged that Julius Berger lacked the necessary equipment for the projects they are handling and promised to provide evidence to back up his claims.
Umahi accused Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, of relying on past glory and failing to meet current standards.
He said that the ongoing Abuja-Kano road project, which Julius Berger claimed to have completed 65 per cent, is already failing, with visible patches on the roads.
He said the same Julius Berger is still demanding fresh N1.1tn for Abuja-Kano road project before completing the rest of the project
Meanwhile,Umahi stated that “ I have document to show you that most of the equipment that Julius Berger is using on Abuja- Kano are hired equipment from this company that we gave the job.
“You are surprised. We have the documents to show you the agreement written, where Julius Berger signed, the company we gave the job signed. So, instead of looking for the egg, we should better look for the chicken”, he emphasized.
