FG expends N480bn to tertiary institutions through TETFUND

The supervising Minister of education, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has said that about N480 billion has so far been released to Federal Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education among others institutions since 2010-2013, through the Tertiary Education trust Fund (TETFUND).

The Minister made the statement yesterday in Bauchi, during a stakeholders’

town hall meeting on TETFUND’s interventions in tertiary institutions in the North-East geo-political zone.

The Minister added that the meeting is an opportunity to meet with heads of federal institutions, not only in the North-East zone to showcase their achievements through the TETFUND intervention.

The Minister noted that the ministry of education organize the meeting to restore the confidence in education sector towards better and solid foundation for quality education in the country.

Wike stressed that TETFUND as an organ of federal government has also release the whooping sum of N437 billion to states Universal Basic Education from 2010-2013, to improve the standard of education from the grassroots.

Wike commended heads of federal institutions in the North-East for executing various structures through the utilization of TETFUND in line with the financial regulation council and procurement act to ensure accountability and judicious use of funds.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman TETFUND Board of Trustees, Dr. Musa Babayo had said, TETFUND is mandated by law to response to the decay state of education through various intervention.
