The federal government has provided training for fifty modern cassava farmers in Kaduna State as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance value and productivity in cassava production.
Conducted in collaboration with the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Agency, the training, organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, covered a range of topics.
Participants learned how to identify suitable cassava stems for planting, proper cutting techniques, optimal planting timing, as well as how to manage various cassava diseases.
Muhammad Rili, the General Manager of Kaduna State Agricultural Development Agency (KADA), addressed the participants, highlighting the alignment of the training with the State governor Senator Uba Sani-led administration’s focus on using agriculture to drive rural development.
Rili encouraged trainees to actively engage with the training content so that they can effectively disseminate the knowledge gained to their local communities.
Mrs. Dorothy Aribi, representing the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Kaduna State Office, emphasized the Ministry’s deliberate strategy of equipping farmers with modern cassava production techniques to enhance productivity.
Hajiya Asma’u Ibrahim Bornoma, a Senior Agricultural Officer from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Abuja, underlined the importance of empowering women and youth through the cassava value chain for improved livelihoods.
Bornoma urged the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge acquired during the training for maximum yield.
