The Minister of works and Housing,Babatunde Fashola said his ministry has opened portal for Highway Development Initiative (HDMI) request bid proposal.
Fashola made the disclosures at the opening ceremony of bid added value concessions of HDMI, yesterday in Abuja.
He said the project scope includes; expansion, re-alignment, rehabilitation and maintenance of existing road pavements and bridges among others.
He said the HDMI is in two phrases (1&2).
“The first phase of the Value Added Concession (VAC) seeks to concession 12 economically viable road corridors to technically and financially capable sector firms and consortia.”
He stated that, “Out of the 18 firms or Consortia which were shortlisted for the request for proposal stage, having satisfied with the set criteria, 16 bidders at the end were successful for the 12 highway contracts which represents 1,963km or 5.6% of 35,000km federal highway and we received outline business case compliance certificate from ICRC”.
The corridors includes; routes of Benin-Asaba, Abuja-Lokoja , Kano -Kastina, Onitsha-Owerri among others corridors.
The Minister emphasized that successful companies must submit their documents , verification, liabilities and other relevant documents to EFCC, ICPC in order to ensure that everything is clean and transparent.
He assured the bidders and the general public that the ministry will remain committed to principles of transparency, fairness and due process in the entire progress.
