Federal Government has re-affirmed its commitment to support the work of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in promoting the protection of human rights in the country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during public presentation of a book titled “ the dialectics of rights: Nigeria’s engagement with the universal periodic review of human rights council.
He said the review is to access the commitment of member states to their international human rights obligations.
He noted that present administration will maintained an open door policy on human rights issues to show its preparedness to welcome human rights inspectors, special rapporteurs and representatives whose intend to visit Nigeria in order to carry out their respective mandate without hindrance.
Onyeama who was represented by Amb. Bolaji Akirimi director councillor, legal rights in the ministry said, the ministry has also made series of remarkable contributions in ensuring the fundamental human rights of Nigerians abroad are protected.
