The world basketball governing body, FIBA have sent a warning letter to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, stating that it would not welcome any third party interference in the internal workings of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, as well as, the planned elective congress of the NBBF.

The letter by FIBA, also stated that in view of its magnanimity to allow the country’s male national team participate in the recently held world cup qualifiers in Angola, the elective congress of the NBBF must be held on or before January 30, 2022.

It further warned against any change in the ratified existing statutes and constitution of NBBF before the elective congress, as such action might attract its sanction.
