The international Federation of women Lawyers, FIDA Nigeria, has condemned the Kidnap of former President of the Nigeria Bar association, Okay Wali (SAN) in a statement, signed by the National President of the association, Hauwa Shekarau, it condemned the act, which it described as violation of the victim’s human right “The news of the kidnap of the immediate past President of the
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Okey Wali (SAN), which sad event occurred on the 12th of October, 2014, was received by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria) with great sadness and distress. FIDA Nigeria condemns this wicked act as it violates Mr. Wali’s constitutional rights as a Nigerian, and all forms of regional and international human rights standards.”
“FIDA Nigeria calls upon the security agencies to rise up to the challenge and ensure that Mr. Wali is rescued soon. This call for action is predicated upon the right of every Nigerian to liberty, freedom of movement, safety and protection, irrespective of his/her status,” the statement added.
“FIDA Nigeria continues to hold government at all levels responsible for the security and wellbeing of citizens. FIDA Nigeria cautions that insecurity ruins a nation and places women and children in the most vulnerable state”, the statement noted.
