Massive fire has razed a whole settlement in Adamawa village leaving more than 300 people homeless and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

The fire from unknown source was said to have started around 11:30pm Wednesday in Rawe a suburb of Guyuk town in Guyuk local government area destroying animals, food item, clothing a and other valuable items in its wake

Residents were said to have heard a distress call in the neighborhood where the fire was said to have started. Aided by the harmattan wind and lack of water to fight the inferno, it spread fast enough since most of the thatched houses were built close enough.

A visit to the area showed residents sitting outside as their houses have been destroyed in the inferno. Worst still are women and children, with no immediate basic necessities of life.

Speaking on behalf of the affected residents, Mallam Magaji Yakubu one of the victims called National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Adamawa State Management Agency ADSEMA and Guyuk Local Government to come to their aid.

“Our plight is made worse by lack of water, which would have been used to quench the raging flames”. He pleaded

He therefore called on the Adamawa State Government to as a matter of urgency provide a borehole to save the lives of the people. In the meantime sympathizes have been trooping to the area to commiserate with the victims.
