Fire guts NAN Correspondent residence in Zaria

A multi-million Naira residence belonging to the Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN,) Kebbi state, Mohammed Lawal, was destroyed due to a fire outbreak yesterday at about 2. Pm which lasted close to an hour.
The fire destroyed all the property of the compound which is located at Buzai behind Kofar Gayan Low-cost Zaria City, Kaduna State.
According to Lawal, he was about to take his bath after returning from the mosque when traces of smoke were discovered in one of the rooms in the three-bedroom bungalow.
He said efforts were made to quench the fire, but they failed and resorted to calling the Fire Service at Kofar Doka in Zaria.
“They (Fire service officer in charge) said they had no fuel to respond to our calls. We also asked them to give the phone number of the Federal Fire Service at Sabon Gari (Zaria) but the officer didn’t oblige.”
He added that, except for the clothes they wore, nothing was saved from the house as everything had been destroyed.
About the cause of the fire incident, Lawal said they suspect electric power fluctuations to be the cause of the fire incident.
