To help combat road transportation-related crimes in Abuja, the nation’s capital city, a digital driven firm, Sure Switch Technologies ltd yesterday introduced its digital applications known as the Sure Drivers, which offers solutions to tackle the pressing issue.
Also, the firm also unveiled an actress and film producer a Rita Daniels as the brand ambassador of the digital driver identification apps.
Addressing newsmen at a press conference heralding the unveiling, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chukwuma Ugbah, noted that crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and other vices on the roads have become a menace, affecting the lives of countless individuals.
Ugbah opined that road transport is the backbone of commerce, tourism, and day-to-day activities, yet, the prevalence of criminal activities targeting travelers and commuters creates an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
According to him, the the Sure Drivers apps, with its incredible ability to analyze data and predict patterns, has the potential to transform how the society combats road transportation-related crimes.
He added that the use of the Sure Driver App QR code recognition technology can also help in identifying real drivers and unknown criminals at road checkpoints or alongs, thereby ensuring real-time crime detection and prevention.
He further said that it has an AI-powered emergency response systems, that can help you identify and track criminals under the guise of a Taxi Driver, AI-powered apps like these can minimize the response time, giving authorities a greater chance of apprehending criminals and rescuing victims before further harm is done.
“ An AI app can be integrated with personal vehicles to ensure passenger safety. For instance, Passengers are advised to scan the QR code before entering any Taxi within Abuja and Drivers are advised for their own safety to encourage the passengers to scan to avoid lifting criminals that may end up robbing him/her.
“Collaboration Between Sure Drivers, Law Enforcement, and the Public For Sure Drivers to effectively combat road-related crimes, collaboration is key.
“Sure Drivers have provide citizens with an easy way to report crimes or suspicious activities, which in the same breath, law enforcement can use AI-powered systems to manage these reports, triage the most critical incidents, and deploy the appropriate resources.
“This creates a cycle of accountability where AI applications keep road users, criminals, and law enforcement informed and connected. Conclusion Ladies and gentlemen, the future of road safety lies in embracing innovative solutions such as AI.
“The days of solely relying on manual interventions must be replaced with smarter, faster, and more effective tools. Some leaders of the National Union of Road Transport workers (NURTW) in the FCT, who were present at the brief unveiling ceremony of the digital apps, who described its introduction as a welcomed development, promised to enroll their members into its database for effective use, to achieve its objectives.
