First lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of professional kits to midwives in Taraba State. The initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Sen. Oluremi said the professional kits, which include 60,000 branded scrubs and 60,000 pairs of Crocs, are being distributed to midwives nationwide. The northeast zone is receiving 10,000 scrubs and 10,000 pairs of Crocs.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of economic empowerment, particularly for women, and commended the efforts of midwives and healthcare workers in improving maternal and child health outcomes in Nigeria.

“The demands of the health profession require not only skills and compassion, but also the right tools and kits to encourage our Midwives as they serve others,” she said.

The First Lady also announced a N50 million business recapitalization grant for 1,000 petty traders in Taraba State.

She emphasized that the Renewed Hope Initiative has been working to improve the lives of families across the country through targeted interventions in agriculture, economic empowerment, education, health, and social investment. The initiative recognizes the importance of supporting vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.

She also commended the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, and the Executive Director and CEO of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, for their dedicated focus on improving healthcare delivery

Speaking earlier, the wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs. Agyi Kefas thanked the First Lady and President Tinubu for their efforts in improving the lives of Nigerians.
