Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged attack on a 16-year-old girl, miss Endurance Sabo, in Goska village, Kaninkon Ward of Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Chairman of Jemaa Local Government, Peter Dogara, confirmed the arrests on Sunday, crediting the swift intervention of security agencies. Mr. Dogara reported that the incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved an attempted kidnapping of Miss Sabo, her grandmother, and her four sisters. “While the grandmother and the other children escaped unhurt, Sabo was rescued with severe injuries, including the amputation of one of her hands,” he explained.
Upon receiving a distress call, the chairman coordinated with security operatives, leading to the victim’s rescue and the apprehension of the five suspects. He noted that Sabo is currently receiving medical treatment at Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital in Kafanchan. Dogara stated that the local government would cover her medical expenses and has requested the hospital’s medical team to refer her to a tertiary health facility for further comprehensive care.
Dogara assured the residents of Jemaa Local Government of their safety, encouraging them to continue their daily activities without fear, as security agencies have been fully mobilized to ensure a peaceful festive season.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding, promptly report any breaches of peace to security agencies, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
