Flood aftermath: Wamakko donates to flood victims..urge communities to vacates riverine areas

Sokoto state governor, Alh. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has directed the state Emergency Relief Agency to release adequate aid materials to flood victims in the state.

The governor also called on communities living in riverine areas to take precautional measures against possible flooding during this year’s rainy season.

He stated this yesterday, at Sakkwai and Kutufare villages, in Tangaza and Gudu local government areas of the state, where about 200 houses have been affected by the flood.

The governor, during the sympathy visit also announced the state government’s donation of 200 bags of assorted grains to each of the two affected communities.

According to him, the call became necessary, in view of d recent report of possible flooding in d state and other northern parts of the country.

He also directed the state emergency relief agency to take a census of the victims, with to providing additional assistance to them.

Wamakko charged the agency to be just and fair in distributing the commodities irrespective of political differences and prayed Allah to prevent future occurrence.
