At least, 2,075 displaced persons are currently in the camp at Onne Primary School in Asaba, while 40 pregnant women, 86 breastfeeding women and four births are recorded alongside the figures.
With fresh victims of 907, it was gathered that the 2,075 persons were checked into the camp on Tuesday after three births were recorded and the 86 breastfeeding women were examined by the state owned hospital doctors including the state commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi in Company of others.
Meanwhile,at Ahamba Primary School in Asaba, the IDP Commandant,Mrs Uche Dunkwu said that out of the 907 IDPs registered within the last 48 hours,40 pregnant women and 86 breastfeeding women were adequately taken care of, adding that though the camps were yet to settle down, there was plans to accommodate them with the opening of another camp at the women Affairs Primary School soon as possible.
She said that registered persons were being fed three times a day, adding that basic amenities provided by the state government for their welfare, clearly shown that the state Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa was passionate about the well being of Deltans, especially the flood victims and others and expressed satisfaction with the amenities provided at the camps.
Delta State Emergency Management Agency,( SEMA) Officials, The Police, Civil Defence, Asaba, Vigilante group and Nigeria Red Cross ( NRC) among others collaborating agencies are stationed at various Camps in Asaba
