The Kirikasamma Local Government Council of Jigawa said recently that it had released N500, 000 for waste management in a bid to conctrol flooding in the area.

The council’s Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Maitafari, said this while inspecting the waste clearing exercise in Kirikasamma community.

Maitafari said that the amount was provided to procure environmental sanitation equipment and support community organisations participating in the exercise.

He said that the exercise was designed to ease the flow of water from residential areas and other locations, adding that the council had constructed drains and culverts to achieve the goal.

The chairman urged the residents of the communities to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste in water ways and keep their environment clean. (NAN)
