Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Kaduna state Chapter said constructing more pit toilets will help to check the problem of open defecation bedeviling the country.
The State Amirah of FOMWAN Pharm. Aisha Isyaku Tukur stated this in a statement made available to the media in kaduna yesterday.
According to her, living without a toilet endangers the health and livelihoods of the world’s most vulnerable people and the risk of living without proper sanitation increases as climate change bites.
Pharm Tukur added that where decent toilets are lacking, human feces can contaminate the ground water or end up in the river.
