Former HOS, comms, others defect to APC in Plateau

With only a few weeks to the February polls, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received defectors who served under the administration of incumbent Governor Jonah David Jang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State.

Those who defected to the APC during the flagging-off of the opposition party’s at gubernatorial campaign include former commissioners, permanent secretaries, former Head of Service, special advisers ,directors and other PDP chieftains .

According to the decampees who were received by the national Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, represented by Hon Zakari Ide, the zonal secretary of the party, said that their defection to the APC was based on the fact the party has issue-based policies which the PDP lacked for the past 16 years of ruling, urging all the people to shun religious politics for the progress of the country and the state.

In his words, the Plateau state APC gubernatorial candidate, Rt Hon Simon Lalong, promised to showcase purposeful leadership by revamping agriculture and youth empowerment, reaffirming to rebuild the built Jos main market.

The former ECOMOG commander, Senator John Nanzip Shagaya also called on Nigerians to shun politics of destruction and embrace peaceful coexistence.

Shagaya while addressing thousands of party faithful, urged supporters to vote APC from top to bottom, calling on them to vote and protect their votes for the development of Nigeria’s democracy.

Also commenting former deputy governor of Plateau state, Dame Pauline Tallen disclosed that the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) , is very vital to the process of change in Nigeria ,calling on the people of Plateau State to collect their voters card and vote out the PDP .

Addressing a mammoth APC of supporters in Nefur campaign rally venue in Pankshin local government area of the state, Tallen assured the community that a wind of change is taking place for the APC to provide the people needed development at the grassroots level.

She however decried the trend where some politicians are using religious and tribal sentiments to deceive the electorate, saying her administration treated all religious and ethnic groups equally since it came to office.
