Former Nasarawa AG declares intention to join guber race

The Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, Barrister Innocent Lagi yesterday in his country home Wamba, declared his intention to contest the governorship of the state on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

Addressing journalists shortly after a stakeholders meeting of the party, he said that the desire to contest for the seat was basically aimed at bringing a better future for the state.

His words “I am happy today to make my declaration to contest as the governor of the state as well as inform the good people of Nasarawa State to support this “move” for a better future, right here and right now”.

Barrister Lagi who highlighted his top most priorities when voted to include involvement of stakeholders in designing factors that would aid development, run a fair, just and equitable leadership.

According to him, “Fulanis, Eggons, Alago, Migilis and other tribes shall be protected and everyone will be carried along for the purpose of peace to reign.

The aspirant who lamented on the security challenges confronting the state, called for a mutual understanding amongst stakeholders and the government in order to bring an end to the crisis in some parts of the state.

He added that whether the government spends N 1 Billion Naira on daily basis to settle conflicts, it means nothing, except when all the parties involved agree to settle within themselves to wave sentiments away then there will be peace.

“Time has come for us to stop all these crises. The Eggons, Fulanis, Alagos and Migilis are not doing well now because of the crisis. We must come together to respect each other and protect ourselves despite our diversity”.

Barrister Lagi further said if given the mandate, his administration will revisit the value of work where youth can be engaged on in order to earn them a living.
