Foundation screens 200 farmers for agric-business in FCT

A Non-Governmental Organisation, the Farmers Home foundation (FHF) in partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) has concluded arraignments to train 200 farmers on agric-business in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
One of the resource persons, Dr Shuaibu Adamu, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen during three days screening exercise in Gwagwalada, said the training would focus on maize, soyabeans, yam and cassava.
He said he would join hands with the founder of the Farmers Home Foundation to put smile on the faces of the farmers in the territory.
He also pointed out that he would not hesitate to provide professional advice for the founder in order to impact positively on the lives of the farmers in the society.
He, therefore, called on the stakeholders in agricultural sector to always be sincere and transparent to the farmers at the grassroots level.
Also speaking, the Deputy Head of the Rural Institution Development (RID) at the FCT Agricultural Development Project (ADP), Dr. Iwegbu Ifeanyi Cyril, urged the youth to deem it necessary to engage in agriculture, in order to boost food production in the country.
Cyril, who is also a resource person, noted that agriculture has a lot of value chains, while advising the farmers to plan before going into the Agricultural production.
He however, commended the initiator of the training for bringing the farmers together to educate them on the agric-business.
On her part, the Founder/National President of the Farmers Home Foundation (FHF), Ambassador Chioma Afornagolu, said she would continue to train the farmers on agric-business, so as to empower them to excel in their communities.
She however, urged Government to engage the farmers/civil servants in every aspect of agriculture to curb corruption in the society.
Afornagolu expressed joy over the manner at which the participants turned out during the screening exercise.
