Some yet-to-be identified internet fraudsters have opened an account in the name of Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on one of the social media platforms called facebook.
This was disclosed to our correspondent in Sokoto, by the Special Assistant on Press Affairs to the governor, Malam Abubakar Dangusau, at the weekend.
The governor’s aide, who advised members of the public to be wary of such fraudsters, noted that such act was only meant to short change unsuspecting persons.
Dangusau further advised that, any message claiming to have come from such facebook account should be disregarded.
“They are aimed at short changing the unsuspecting members of the public. Relevant security agencies have been informed of this fraudulent facebook accounts operators, and the security agencies are leaving no stone unturned to apprehend the suspected fraudsters”, Dangusau advised.
