FRSC dedicates new faith chapel in Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, on Friday dedicated its newly constructed Faith Chapel to promote spiritual wellbeing among personnel.

The chapel was dedicated during a ceremony attended by officers, marshals, members of the Paramilitary Christian Fellowship, religious leaders, heads of sister security and paramilitary agencies and other guests.

Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, urged Christian personnel to regard the chapel as a common place of worship rather than a platform for promoting individual church doctrines.

Ma’aji said the chapel belonged to all Christians and should unite personnel despite differences in denominations, worship styles and practices.

“This is Christ Church, and not your individual church. Therefore, do not think of coming here to do things exactly as they are done in your own church.

“Do not think of bringing the policies or practices that operate in your church and imposing them here. This is our church because it belongs to all of us,” he said.

He said the values that united Christians were greater than the differences that sometimes divided them, urging personnel to recognise one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.

The CAN chairman described diversity in worship as a strength and uniqueness that should be celebrated rather than used to create division.

He urged members to respect different forms of worship, saying that no worship style made one Christian superior to another.

“Who told you that your church is superior or better? Who told you that mine is inferior? All of us are equal in the presence of God,” he said.

Ma’aji prayed that the chapel would become a centre of transformation, prayer and solutions to the challenges confronting personnel and worshippers.

Earlier, Corps Commander Andrew Longkam, FRSC Sector Commander, Kaduna, said the dedication of the chapel represented more than the commissioning of a physical structure.

Longkam said it reflected the command’s recognition of the importance of spiritual wellbeing in the discharge of its responsibilities of protecting lives and promoting safety on the roads.

He said personnel required not only professional competence and discipline but also sound moral and spiritual values to effectively serve the public.

Quoting Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain,” Longkam said the success of their efforts ultimately depended on the grace and guidance of God.

He expressed hope that the chapel would serve as a sanctuary for prayer, worship, reflection and spiritual renewal, while inspiring personnel to serve with integrity, compassion, discipline and dedication.

Longkam commended the leadership of the command, the Paramilitary Christian Fellowship and individuals who contributed to the establishment of the chapel.

The ceremony featured prayers for peace, stability and protection of security personnel and agencies in the country.

The prayers were offered by representatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), among others.

The FRSC sector commander appreciated the presence of heads and representatives of sister paramilitary agencies, members of the Paramilitary Christian Fellowship, religious leaders and other distinguished guests.

He prayed for God’s blessings upon the chapel, FRSC, sister agencies, Kaduna State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
