Fury vs. Joshua bout threatened by promotional dispute

Tyson Fury has vowed to knock out Anthony Joshua within seven rounds when the British heavyweights meet at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, but the long-awaited showdown has been thrown into fresh doubt.

Fury, speaking publicly for the first time since the bout was provisionally agreed, did not hold back in his assessment of his longtime rival. “He’s nothing but a glorified weightlifter with no engine,” Fury declared during an interview.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: he doesn’t last seven rounds with me. I will systematically break him down and put him to sleep in front of a packed stadium in Wales.”

However, despite the confidence radiating from the WBC champion, the mega-fight is once again teetering on the edge of collapse. High-stakes negotiations have hit a major roadblock over broadcast rights and promotional partnerships, casting a dark shadow over the scheduled December date.

At the heart of the bitter dispute is a clash between rival promoters and broadcasting giants. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has expressed serious concerns over the involvement of UFC President Dana White, who has recently made aggressive moves into professional boxing.

Joshua’s camp claims that White’s promotional company cannot be legally integrated into the exclusive Netflix broadcast, which holds the primary rights to the event.

“We have strict contractual obligations that cannot simply be rewritten to accommodate third-party entities,” Hearn stated, hinting at potential legal gridlock if a compromise is not reached swiftly. With a major London press conference scheduled for this week, the pressure is mounting on both camps to sign off on the final paperwork.

Executives from Netflix and rival promotional outfits are reportedly working behind the scenes to rescue the event, which is projected to break British box office records.
