The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Hon Gofrey Gaiya has called on Nigerians especially football lovers to allow continuity in the administration of football in the country as the only way to ensure smooth development of the game.
Hon Gaiya made the remark yesterday while speaking during the laying foundation ceremony of the FIFA technical center in Bauchi where he said continuity in the administration of football will enhance better performance of our teams.
“In FIFA and CAF we see how Sepp Blatter and Issa Hayatou have stayed for long heading the affairs of football in their respective positions, that is why they were able to achieve better performance, hence the need for Nigerians to allow present executives of the NFF board to continue in office” he said
Hon Gaiya stated that football development is beyond football competition and lauded the initiative of the NFF President for actualization of the FIFA Goal project in the country, saying that sport is a big employer of labour.
Earlier speaking the NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari applauded FIFA for encouraging the development of football through the construction of FIFA development centres and commended the Bauchi state government for providing a piece of plot for the giant project, saying that FIFA goal project will be replicated in six geo- political zones of the country.
