The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje has expressed deep sadness over the news of the passing of a staunch member of the party, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who, reportedly, died in London on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
Until his death, Senator Ubah was a two-term federal lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.
Ganduje in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu described Ubah was an astute businessman, philanthropist and patriot who used his resources to cater for even the needy.
“His passing is a massive loss and he will be missed dearly. Our heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with his family, constituents, colleagues at the National Assembly and the good people of Anambra state at this difficult time.
“We pray the Almighty God to grant the soul of our departed party man, business magnate and most distinguished lawmaker eternal rest. Amen,” the statement concluded
Similarly, the National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Nze Duru in a statement he personally issued on Saturday said the death of Sen. Ubah was shocking and unbelievable.
Duru who is also a political associate of the late Ubah lamented that Senator Ubah left when his intellectual and political prowess was most needed both in Anambra and Nigeria at large.
He described the late Senator Ubah as a great patriot, a compassionate leader, and a true democrat.
His life was marked by an unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria. He was a politician par excellence, a shrewd businessman, a philanthropist, a grassroots mobilizer, and a lover of his people.
“His legacies of service delivery to the good people of Anambra state and Nigeria at large through the provision of scholarships for students, free healthcare, and support for the less privileged will live forever”, Nze Duru added.
He prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Apart from his exploits in the political terrain, Ifeanyi Ubah was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and founder of a Nigerian National League football side, Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club.
