Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has called on media practitioners and Non-governmental organizations to rise to the challenge of sensitizing the public on the importance of the Covid-19 vaccination.
Addressing journalists and members of Non-governmental organizations at the Africa House, Government House Kano yesterday, Ganduje said the vaccination exercise was meant to fight the pandemic with vigour, adding that his government has made considerable effort in taking curative, preventive and palliative measures.
According to him, administering the vaccine would be the best way to fight the menace with commitment, dedication and seriousness, positing that the adult class is the most vulnerable , looking at the dismal pace adults were dying.
He said” I heard somebody asking a question and making comparison with the polio immunization. the way I see it is, immunization against polio only affects children not adults. now that Covid-19 almost kill adults, I am sure people would be serious on presenting themselves for the vaccination”.

“Since we came on board, and at the time the Covid-19 pandemic was striking with ferocity, we have demonstrated our commitment and dedication in effecting preventive, curative and palliative measures aimed at tackling the dreaded pandemic. from what we have assessed so far, Kano has undoubtedly made considerable headway” he stated.

“The media and Non-governmental organizations are at a strategic position in sensitizing the public to be submissive for this important assignment to reach fruition. we shall remain absolutely resolute in ensuring that we have achieve this noble objective. he posited.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman Technical Committee on Covid-19 response in Kano, Dr. Tijjani Husaini said the vaccination exercise would be conducted in phases as a result of logistical nightmare and it is expected to last for two years.
