Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has warned Federal Government against further delay in resolving the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike to avoid the collapse of education in the country.
Ganduje who received hundreds of protesting NLC joint strike, Tuesday, said, although the strip of the Union is an inherited one, but it highly time for the government to without delay end it.
He hinted that, “it is no longer news that the University Lecturers are in a serious suffering because of lack of Salaries, however more importantly the Students are today missing out in their studies which is gradually turning their dormant”.
He said, “Government owed it a responsibility to see to the end of the lingering strike so that Nigeria education would remains intact while having a brighter future in the Youths”.
The Governor added, “despite the strike actions in Kano they continue paying their Lecturers who are on the strike and this is even though they have some left over money they are paying soon”.
“We are in the Nigeria Governor’s Forum moving seriously to resolve the situation so that the Nation Universities will open and allowed Students continue their Studies, we are not living any stone unturned”.
Speaking during the protest, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, called on Federal Government to quickly fullfil the demands of ASUU because the protest is just a tip of the ice because after it they would go on three days warning strike.
“Let me say this the Government should very importantly paid all the outstanding Lecturers Salaries so that their families would be saved from hunger and starvation”.
Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir said despite Federal Government No Work No Pay in is not been reflected as the State still paid their Salaries and all workers.
