Gombe: CUPP accuses Sen Goje of interfering on INEC processes

The Gombe State chapter of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has alleged that Sen. Mohammed Danjuma Goje has influenced the processes of the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) which they said was the reason the commission failed to use staff of the Federal College of Education (Tech) and Federal College of Horticulture as returning and supervisors Officers after being trained for the exercise.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday, in Gombe, through its Secretary Sunday Lewis Paris, CUPP said INEC only recognized 30 staff of Federal University Kashere to participate as returning and supervisors Officers during the elections exercise.
According to him, all the 30 staff recommended for the excise were nominated by the APC Senatorial candidate of Gombe Central zone, Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma Goje.
Sen. Goje, who influenced the sighting of the Federal University Kashere (his birth place) when he was the governor of Gombe state, has continued to influence appointment of staff in the university, the Coalition said.
The coalition also argued that in the past the commission usually used Federal College of Education (Tech) to participate as returning and supervisors Officers during elections exercise until now they decided to change their policy they affirmed.
They called on INEC to include the list of staff of Federal College of Education (Tech) Gombe and that of Federal College of Horticulture Dadin-Kowa who were trained for the exercise.
Speaking further, the coalition said inability of INEC to include staff of Federal College of Education (Tech )and Federal College of Horticulture for the exercise is questionable and the coalition will never accept such to happen.
When contacted the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Gombe Alhaji Umar Ibrahim declined that INEC will not compromise with any political Party or individual saying that names of returning and supervisors Officers which was forwarded to the commission was send through the office of the National chairman of the commission.
