The first lady of Gombe state, Hajiya Adama Dankwambo has flagged off VVF surgery operation with a view to eradicate the menace of VVF in order to enable women who suffer from the disease have normal life as others.
She stated this in Gombe yesterday, when she visited Gombe Specialist Hospital to flag off VVF surgery operation for women in the state to benefit.
According to her, the programme started in 2012 under HAWEP during which no fewer than 56 women underwent successful VVF surgery operation in the state.
She said the programme made a remarkable impact in 2013 with a number of 76 women suffering from VVF gaining freedom from the disease, adding that her office is working towards sustaining the programme, in helping women conquer the disease, as government is already targeting to launch VVF surgery operation of 100 women in the state.
The programme is expected to kick out the virus before 2015.
