The Gombe state Police command yesterday foiled an attempt by a suicide bomber, who gate-crashed the fence of Government Day Secondary School, Pilot Gombe, with a mission to bomb the school.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Gombe, the Commissioner of Police in Gombe state, Mr. Kudu Abdullahi Nma said the suicide bomber took advantage when the students of the college were writing their mathematics paper of the National Examination Council (NECO).

The CP said that the incident occurred at 10:45am, when the public noticed that there was a vehicle that rammed into the fence of the college, which attracted them to called the police immediately, noting that with the intervention of the police, they were able to foil the suicide bomber’s attempt.

The state police commissioner also said that police defused the device about 800 square meters away  from the school.
