Gombe youth ask police commissioner to halt re-introduction of Kalare youths

Date:

From David Hassan, Gombe

Ahead of the 2015 general elections,  Gombe Youth Development Forum, has called on the Police Commissioner of Gombe state to halt the alleged introduction of Kalare youths by some elements.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja over the recent invitation of former governor Danjuma Goje to its Command in Gombe, the National Coordinator of the group, Barr. Salihu Mohammed said the people of the state would not fold their hands and watch the lives of Gombe youths being truncated again after the dark years of the previous administration when the lives of youths were messed up and made only good for thuggery.

Mohammed charged the Police commissioner to ensure that any attempt by any unscrupulous politician to reintroduce the yankalare youths is terminally brought to a halt by the police, noting that it would be disastrous if the Police folded its hands and watched the peaceful nature of Gombe State get jeopardized for selfish interests.

“It is on record that incumbent Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has expended over N500million in the rehabilitation of the yankalare youths that the administration of Danjuma Goje unleashed on the state. This is after crimes such as alleged  murder, robbery, kidnap and uncontrolled thuggery had been the lot of these youths whose lives were destroyed on this note.

“It would, therefore, be catastrophic if the Police in the state fold their arms and watch youths in the state get re-recruited ahead 2015 to begin destabilization of the peace in Gombe state and ferments crisis. This must be resisted and terminally brought to a halt as it goes against the peace and tranquility that has existed in our state as a result of the concerted efforts if the Dankwambo administration, “ the group said.
