The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas on Monday banned in totality the use of motorcycles in Jalingo metropolis.
Agbu disclosed this during the security emergency meeting in Jalingo, according to the statement by the secretary of the security committee, Koku Agbu Koku.
Represented by the State deputy governor, Alh. Abdullahi Alkali, Agbu directed that tricycle movements begin by 6am and stop by 8pm respectively.
The statement noted that, “Effective 22nd day of January, 2024, the use of motorcycle of any kind, are completely banned. While the operation of Tricycle (Keke) is restricted between 6am and 8 pm.
“Defaulters will be arrested and tried by the Mobile Court and the Motorcycles and Tricycle will be confiscated and destroyed.
“These measures are as the result of the sudden spike in the activities of criminals in Jalingo, the State Capital”. Agbu directed.
Recalled that, former Taraba state governor, late pharm. Danbaba Danfulani Suntai had during his administration banned the use of motorcycles in Jalingo metropolis.
