Gov. Ahmed flags off 11.16km road project

Governor of Kwara State, Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed on Wednesday flagged off Osi – Obbo-Aiyegunle 11.16km road in Ekiti local government area of the state.
During the flag off in Osi, Governor Ahmed said that the decision to commence the road was to further meet the infrastructural needs of the people apart from the ongoing Kwara State University – Ekiti Campus, Oke-Opin township road among other projects in Ekiti local government area.
Ahmed noted that the project is significant to the government and the people of the area, saying that when completed, it would improve commerce in the axis, guarantee stress free driving and boost socio-economic development of the area.
“As a responsive government, we embarked on this project to ameliorate the hardship experienced by motorists and commuters along the Osi-Obbo Aiyegunle-Ekiti Boundary axis.
This route is therefore significant not only to the Kwara State Government but also to the inhabitants of Osi-Obbo-Aiyegunle and adjoining communities in the state,” Dr Ahmed said.
He added that a number of roads are ongoing in Kwara South Senatorial district under the Kwara State Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K).
“In this senatorial district, other projects include Share-Oke Ode Road, Anilelerin Road, Offa/Oke-Opin Township Road, Offa/Ipe Road, Ilala Bridge, KWASU Satellite Campus, Osi, among others.”
Gov. Ahmed promised that more rural roads would be constructed under the Rural Access and Agricultural Mobility Projects (RAMP).
According to the governor, Ekiti and Oke Ero are among the Local Government Areas accommodated in the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) road programme scheduled for next month, adding that four major road projects spanning about 40km in the two Local Government Areas under the RAAMP Programme would be constructed.
The roads, according to the governor are Erinmope-Moji-Ekan Meje; Ajuba-Ikerin-Opin-Osi, Obbo-Ile-Obbo Aiyegunle- Orra and Idofin- Odo Ashe- Ahun roads.”
Dr Ahmed sought the support of all citizens and residents towards ensuring that the administration succeed in all its endeavours.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya disclosed that the 11.1km road was approved at the contractual sum of N1.20bn with the completion period of 10 months.
Alhaji Yahaya promised that the road would be properly monitored for early completion in line with specifications.
