The newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, Musa Elayo has solicited for support from the media practitioners in the state.
He made the plea yesterday at the Government House press office in Lafia the state capital while interacting with the correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of journalists.
Musa Elayo who described journalism profession as a noble organ in any society and urged journalists to be objective in their reportage.
According to him, “Government cannot achieve without the support of the media. I call on you the journalists to report the activities of government with objectivity in order to forge ahead. The administration of Governor Almakura is friendly to press. I urged you to project the image of the state especially on developmental projects cut across the state”.
He continued “seek for clarification on issues before publication. Almakura’s administration believes in open door policy. Let us open up to ourselves by balancing from the government before disseminating information for public consumption”.
Also in his remark, the chairman of the correspondents’ chapel Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar assured the chief press secretary the Chapel’s readiness to co-operate with government in order to enable it achieve its aims and objectives in the state.
“We have seen what the governor has done in the state capital and the local governments in terms of pragmatic projects which are of great benefit to the electorate in the state,” he maintained
