Niger state Governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has advised the people of the state not to be taken in by All Progressives Congress, APC’s criticisms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration in the state, saying the opposition was too blind to notice the achievements of his administration.

Reacting to APC’s criticism of Aliyu’s achievements, the governor’s spokesman, Danladi Ndayebo, described the statement by the opposition as malicious and bereft of any shred of sincerity.

The APC chieftain in Niger state, Alhaji Umar Shaibu, in a press statement issued in Minna yesterday titled ‘Governor Aliyu has never delivered his campaign promises’ listed 11 promises made by the Niger state governor that has not been fulfilled to date.

The statement quoted Aliyu at a recently commissioning of general hospital, Gulu to have declared that he has delivered all his campaign promises to the people of the state.

It added that the governor’s statement “is cheap propaganda, gimmick and tantamount to undermining the intelligence of the citizens of the state.”

It maintained that some of his promises which remained unfulfilled included building of 5 star hotel in Minna at a whooping sum of N5billion, Atwin city project, Minna city centre project, the three arms zone, Zuma rock tourism resort and cable car project. Others, according to Shuaibu are Minna Water Works project, building of hotel on top of zuma rock and Baro refinery as well as building of 5000 housing units and delivery of 10km road in each of the 25 local government areas of the state which remained a mirage and unfulfilled by Aliyu’s government.

According to the statement “in the chronicle of governor’s in Niger state from inception, if there is any governor either appointed or elected that has ever promised heaven and earth and reneges in his vows to the citizens, it is governor Aliyu.”

But Ndayebo said his boss has stamped his seal of excellence on all the critical sectors of the state’s economy such as roads, education, agriculture, security, health, housing and infrastructural development.

He said the reconstruction of all the major roads in the capital city, Kutigi – Fazhi road , rehabilitation of Minna industrial layout road network, Batati-Dabban road, Luma-Babana Road, Bonu-Gurara Waterfalls; Mokwa-Raba road, Birigi-Lapai Gwari, Lapai-Gulu- Muye road and several others make APC’s claim on the state of infrastructure in the state untenable.
