Gov. Badaru makes teachers’ salaries top priority

The Executive Chairman Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Alhaji Salisu Zakari said that,the Jigawa state governor Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru insisted that the primary and secondary school teachers must be paid first before any civil servants in the state.
Alhaji Zakari stated this yesterday while reviewing some achievements recorded in his board executed by the present administration in the state.
He explained that, the move is part of present APC administration’s effort to give more priority to educational sector across 27 local government in the state.
The executive chairman further explained that Governor Badaru also approved to state Universal Basic Education Board to recruit over 1,500 teachers to address the problem of teachers shortage in the schools.
According to him, over eight thousands teachers across the state under the board, are promoted in the last two and half years.
He maintained that, about 8,670 teachers were also trained on various field to improve their teaching capacities.
Alhaji Zakari further explained that, the present administration in the state succeeded in construction of 133 new primary schools with additional 113 junior secondary schools across 27 local government area in the state.
While on the provision of teaching and learning furniture to schools in the state,the executive chairman said, about five hundred sets of school furniture was provided in all primary and secondary schools.
He said, in an effort to address the issue of schools congestion, over twenty thousand classrooms were provided within two years in the state.
He charged the teachers in the state to redouble their efforts in supporting Governor Badaru’s educational change agenda for better Jigawa state.
