Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has reiterated that prioritizing agriculture is the only way out of hunger facing the country.
The Governor stated this when he, in the company of the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman Gawu among other government officials inspected some of the tractors and handhelds delivered to the state at the International Airport in Minna.
Governor Umar Mohammed Bago noted that the Agricultural equipment was delivered in fulfilment of the six hundred and fifty million dollar partnership the State Government signed with John Deere Limited; the world’s best manufacturer of tractors.
He explained that the delivery which is in phases will have over three hundred tractors and one thousand handhelds before the end of the month under the first phase adding that the State is expecting more than one thousand tractors in the next six months.
The Governor maintained that the effort is geared towards achieving the National policy on food security with the State given opportunity for the pilot scheme.
