Niger state governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has promised to purchase 300 tractors and 150,000 fertilizer for distribution and sales for the farmers in the state.
The governor made this known during the official flag off ceremony of the 2023 wet season fertilizer sales, distribution and other inputs in Minna.
He called on the people especially the civil servants to go back to farm for ensuring food sufficiency.
Bago noted that he will procure 100 trucks consisting of 60,000 NPK fertilizers to be sold at 20% subsidy to the sum of N18,000 per bag, while warning that no farmer will get more than 10 bags.
He revealed that his foundation chaired by his wife will donate 300 water pump machines to farmers for irrigation farming and assured of genuine partnership with international organizations to achieve the desired economic growth.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Idris Usman Gbogan stated that an internal control mechanism is in place and a monitoring teams has been set up for each of the three geo political zones to ensure strict compliance.
The Chairman, Niger state chapter of All Farmers Association (AFAN), Alhaji Shehu Galadima applauded the current administration of governor Mohammed Umar Bago for ensuring the fertilizer sales at the right time.
