Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state has tasked the newly appointed cabinet members and elected councils Chairmen as well as Permanent Secretaries to work in harmony to ensure the realization of the ‘New Niger’ vision of the state.
Bago gave the directive while declaring open, an 8-day executive retreat for commissioners-designate, chairmen-elect, special advisers and permanent secretaries with the theme; ‘Whole Governance, a Collaborative Effort for Development: The Road to a New Niger’.
Represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, the governor reassured parents and citizens that the government was working tirelessly to secure the release of the abducted children from St Mary Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Agwara local government of the state.
He urged participants of the retreat to provide clear leadership as the state pushes to position itself as a leading agro-industrial hub, contributing significantly to food security and sovereignty in the country.
He emphasized that the retreat will reinforce leadership capacity, strategic planning, fiscal discipline, people-centred service delivery, and performance evaluation, as accountability must remain central to public service.
