Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has stressed the need for judicial officers to always be alive to their responsibilities, which will enable them to strive to be above board.
The governor gave the charge at the Government House, Lokoja yesterday, while swearing in the newly appointed President of the state Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Siaka Momohjimoh Usman.
Speaking through his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, the governor charged Justice Usman to see his appointment as a call to service, saying his administration would continue to provide the conducive atmosphere for judicial officers in the state, to discharge their constitutional duties effectively.
He therefore hoped that the experience diligence and dedication to duties of the newly appointed President of the Customary Court of Appeal, would spur him to carry out his duties without fear or favour.
He further enjoined those working with Justice Usman at the hierarchy of the state judiciary to give him the maximum cooperation needed, to enable him succeed in his new assignment.
While reiterating the commitment of his administration to be fair to all segments of the state, governor Bello prayed God to grant the newly appointed judicial officer, the wisdom to discharge his duties efficiently and effectively.
In his remarks, the newly appointed President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Siaka Momohjimoh Usman thanked God for the opportunity given him to serve, even as he commended the governor for finding him worthy to serve the state.
He assured that he would discharge his duties with a utmost sincerity, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
