In the spirit of marking the New Year,2018 festivities,37 inmates serving different jail terms in various prisons have secured their freedom through state prerogative of mercy courtesy of Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrila of Adamawa state
This development was made possible based on the powers of prerogative of mercy vested on the state governor, constitutionally backed by the inputs of the advisory committee of the prerogative of mercy headed by Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the state, Mr Silas Sanga.
In a statement issued by Commissioner for Information and Strategy Comrade Ahmad Sajoh ,it was indicated that 11 of the prisoners were from Yola prison,9 from Jimeta prison and 1 convicts from Ganye prison
Others are 9 from Jada prison and 7 from Numan prison while two others committed to death sentences have their convicts reversed to life imprisonment.
The statement added that all necessary steps, has been taken by the prison authorities on the warrant singed by his Excellency to ensure compliance with the prerogative of mercy pronouncement
