The Yobe state Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni has pledged to eliminate the HIV and AIDS in the state.
He stated this in a statement issued by Deputy Governor’s Press Secretary, Hussaini Mai Suleh, on Tuesday after 2023 world AIDS’s day commomeration at Government House Damaturu, the state capital.
It said Gov. Buni was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana who commended the global AIDS community for coming up with this theme; “community leadership to end AIDS by 2030.”
He said it would give additional impetus towards achieving the universal healthcare coverage for all Yobens.
Buni further explained that the state government has provided one primary healthcare clinic in each of the 178 electoral wards, across the state.
Governor emphasized that, Government has upgraded hospitals and constructed new facilities equipped with modern instruments to cope with increasing demand for better healthcare services especially in the referral centers.
Governor Buni assured the victims of the HIV and AIDS that the present administration would not relent in providing succor to them .
Adding that, “The Yobe state government has improved it’s strategies to end mother to child transmission of HIV and AIDS by conducting test for all pregnant women at all health facilities across the state.”
He reiterated that in order to sustain the smooth operation of the state agency for the control of AIDS (SACA), a permanent site is being renovated among other incentives for the Agency.
The executive Director state agency for the control of HIV and AIDS, Dr Jibrin Adamu Damazai said, the day is set aside for the annual commomaration of HIV/AIDS across the World in order to honor people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS to remember those who lost their lives to the virus.
In their separate remarks, the Head of the implementing partners and head of health sectors, commended the effort and commitment of the State and national agency for the control of AIDS, and appealed more supports.
