Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, in company of the Speaker Yobe state House of Assembly, Hon. Ciroma Buba Mashio, Senator representing Zone B, Mohammed Ibrahim Bomoi, emirs and hundreds of others on Saturday attended funeral prayer for the late Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Ibn Grema, at the Emir’s palace, Sabon Garin Nangere.
In a statement issued by Governor’s Director Press and Media affairs, Mamman Mohammed, Buni described the death of the first-class Emir as a great loss to the Emirate, the state, and the country.
“He was a peace loving leader, fair and just to all, objective, and committed to the interest of his people and the development of Tikau Emirate,” Governor said.
Governor Buni prayed to Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest in Aljannatu firdaus and to grant his family, and the people of the emirate the fortitude to bear the loss.
He extended his personal condolences, that of the government, and the people of the state to his family and the Emirate.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Gashua, Professor Maimuna Waziri, on behalf of the Senate, management, staff and students of the University has joined thousands of dignitaries within and outside the state to condole with the family, Yobe State government and the good people of Tikau Emirate over the death of the Emir of Tikau, late Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn Grema.
This was contained in a statement signed by Adamu Saleh, Head Information and Protocol Unit of the Federal University Gashu’a.
In a condolence message personally delivered by the Vice-Chancellor, she described the late Emir as an elder statesman who played a crucial role in promoting peace, development and education in Yobe State; stressing that the death of the Emir was a colossal loss to the good people of Yobe State and Nigeria at large.
Prof. Maimuna Waziri, said the deceased was a great leader and father to all. He contributed immensely to peace, development and education in the state.
“The late Emir was one of those personalities who show great concern for the development of our university, May Allah in His Infinite mercy overlook his shortcomings and reward him with Jannatul Firdausi, Amin Ya Allah.”
