Gov. Buni Swears into office 17 LG Chairmen

Chairmen of Management Committees for the 17 Local Government Councils in Yobe State, were Wednesday sworn into office by Hon. Mai Mala Buni, at the Government House, Damaturu.

 

Governor said, “the commencement of our second term of office defines a new beginning for more dedication and commitment to service delivery to justify the people’s confidence and reinvestment of trust in us.”

 

He advised the chairmen to adhere strictly to the principle of due process and procedures in executing government business.

 

He also charged them to be diligent, transparent, judicious and prudent in the management of the council resources.

“As you are aware, Yobe State is currently ranked high in transparency, accountability and good governance by reputable international and local organizations, we must not only sustain this but work hard to improve the ranking” Governor Buni advised.

 

He warned that government would not tolerate acts of sabotage and disloyalty.

 

“Let me make it emphatically clear that the state government will not tolerate ineptitude, abuse of office and disloyalty by any public officer. You must be upright and accountable for all your actions, and willing to serve selflessly. We will not hesitate to set example on anyone found wanting.” He warned.

The Governor assured that the Local Government Council Election would be conducted in November this year.

 

“This is to take democracy much closer to the people at the grassroots. We will ensure a credible, fair and generally acceptable election is conducted in the state.” Buni said.

 

He appealled to the people of Yobe state to support and cooperate with the state government as it unfolds new reform policies and programmes to further improve service delivery across the state.
