Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has congratulated the Taraba chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on their annual press week celebration, marking a 10-year break.
The governor also accepted the Security Man of the Year award nomination by the NUJ.
In a statement issued by Hon Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Dr. Kefas commended the NUJ leadership for recognizing government efforts in security.
He noted that journalists are major partners in moving Taraba forward and emphasized the importance of freedom of speech and constructive criticism in a democratic setting.
The governor assured the NUJ of continued growth under his administration, expressing delight in the journalists’ commitment to professionalism. The award ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the C2C Event Centre in Jalingo.
According to the statement, the NUJ leadership described Dr. Kefas’ strides in security matters as the best in Taraba’s history, noting a unanimous agreement among members when the award nomination was mentioned.
