From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse
The Jigawa state governor, Mallam Umar Namadi expressed dismay over the deplorable condition of some general hospital in Jigawa state.
The dissatisfaction was contained in a statement issued to news men, where the governor disclosed during unschedule visit to Dutse General Hospital, on Monday.
Governor Namadi who was not happy with the deplorable condition of some sections in the hospital, observed that there was no light as both staff and patients were sitting in the dark while in some wards, there were no window nets to prevent mosquitoes.
According to the statement, the governor was particularly upset to find out that patients even under-five years have to buy drugs in the hospital contrary to the state Government’s policy of free healthcare to under five year old children in the state.
According to the statement, 70% of the patients interviewed by the Governor said they bought drugs and were not given bedsheets.
