Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, has said “despite the huge debt burden of 587 million Dollars, 85 billion Naira, and 115 billion Naira contractual liabilities sadly inherited from the previous administration, his administration remains resolute in steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development.
He asserted this during a Town Hall Meeting, tagged: “The State of Kaduna state”, held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him his administration has conducted a thorough assessment of the situation and sharpened its focus
The Gov said he has performed the Groundbreaking of some development projects like Qatar Charity Foundation 500,000 houses for some indigent people in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor also added that the state is also partnering with the Federal Housing Authority to build an affordable mass housing project for the low and middle class.
Governor Uba Sani also informed the gathering that road construction projects in Kaduna have now reached 827 kilometres.
The increase in the number of projects came on the heels of a 327-kilometre road, connecting three local governments, namely Igabi, Kaduna North, and Chikun.
Governor Uba Sani pointed out that the new project also has great potential to provide jobs for over 2,000 skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labourers. He explained that the new roads will enable people to move their goods without difficulty, thereby boosting economic security.
According to the governor, the groundbreaking of the new road linking the three local governments brings the total number of major roads by his administration to 21.
The new project covers 8 Districts and capable of providing water and sanitation systems, along with an efficient waste management system.
Other benefits of new projects, according to the governor, include “the provision of power utility and road infrastructure, totalling 327KM, cutting across 3 main roads, Several Feeder Roads and streets in the 8 Districts.
He added that there will be a Dual Carriage Bridge
“It gladdened my heart to inform you that, despite the huge inherited debt on the state, to date, we have not borrowed a single kobo.
He said that the priority areas of his government include safety and security, Housing, Education, Healthcare, and Support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
“We are also prioritizing inclusive development by investing in human capital, stimulating the economy, and providing affordable housing.”
